Australian Meat Pie Recipe with Olive Oil Shortcrust Pastry (Dairy Free Recipe)

Ingredients

    For the olive oil shortcrust pastry:

  • 600g (21 ounces) all-purpose flour + extra to dust the rolling pin & bench
  • Salt to taste (I used about 1/2 tsp)
  • 3/4 cup of olive oil + extra to grease the pie pan
  • Approximately 3/4 cup of cold water
  • Meat filling:

  • 1 tsp cooking oil
  • 1 brown onion, peeled & diced
  • 500g mince beef
  • 1 Tbsp cornflour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsps Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp barbecue sauce
  • Soy sauce to taste
  • Other:

  • 1 Egg, lightly beaten

Directions

For the pastry:

  • in an exceedingly bowl, combine along flour and salt. Then add in oil employing a fork till resembles breadcrumbs.

  • Brush rims with water. Roll and flatten the remaining dough and cut vi x 13cm circles from the shortcrust pastry and place over meat. Press to seal with a fork. Trim and brush with crushed egg.
  • Bake within the preheated kitchen appliance for twenty to twenty five minutes till the highest of the pies seem golden brown.
