Icelandic Brown Bread

Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup baking molasses

Instructions

  • heat up the kitchen appliance to three hundred degrees. Grease or butter a loaf pan well and put aside.
  • combine dry ingredients during a giant bowl. during a cup measure a pair of cups buttermilk(or substitute one 1/2 tablespoons of vinegar or juice so top off the cup up with milk to a pair of cups) combine in syrup so pour into the dry ingredients. combine completely.
  • Once utterly mixed, pour into the ready loaf pan and let symbolize ten minutes. when lease it stand, place within the three hundred degree kitchen appliance for hour.
  • Check if the loaf is finished with a pick within the center and once the loaf is finished, take away from the kitchen appliance, run a knife round the edge if required, then end up onto a cooling rack and let cool a minimum of half-hour before slicing. we tend to like this best served heat with butter.
