Ingredients
3 Tbs all purpose flour3 Tbs salted butter
1 1/2 cups of beer, your choice but an amber or dark is best (may sub white wine or apple cider)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 Tbs dijon mustard
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
8 oz sharp cheddar
chives, chopped for garnish
1 baguette cut into 1 inch slices
Instructions
- in a very medium sauce pan heat butter and flour over medium heat and stir perpetually with a whisk till the mixture turns a golden color and smells nutty.
- Add brew and stir well with whisk.
- Add pepper, cayenne, mustard, sauce and nutmeg, bring around a simmer.
- Add cheese and stir well.
- still cook till cheese is liquefied and sauce is well developed.
- flip heat to low and stir sometimes whereas browning French bread.
- Toast French bread either in a very standard toaster, kitchen appliance or beneath a broiler till golden.
- you will additionally toast bread in a very pan by coating bread with a lightweight coat of vegetable oil or butter and browning on one aspect.
- Serve by plating bread, descending or running superb white sauce over bread and sprinkle with chives.
